Job Details

The Assistant Director Technology will be responsible for leading the implementation of the new technology and development platforms which will underpin our Digital Transformation.
Homes England will engineer and transform the technology supporting our internal business processes from a complex and ageing legacy estate to a modern, data centric architecture that will streamline processes and facilitate organisation wide collaboration and support multi-functional teams.

This exciting new role will work closely with the Chief Executive, Directors Group, Transformation Lead and Chief Digital and Technology Officer to continuously shape the priorities and direction to champion user centred design and a healthy open culture of change.

We are looking for a talented individual who can lead transformational programmes within a complex and fast paced environment. As well as having strong knowledge of agile working methods and an ability to provide exceptional user experiences. You will be leading on innovative technology to enable end-to-end open, extendable, secure and interoperable services, supporting the new Homes England Operating Model and Digital Strategy.

You will be expected to take a high-level approach to design, using systems thinking and an ability to design solutions that are tailor made to meet our people’s needs. Ideally, you will have excellent and diverse technical skills in enterprise architecture and infrastructure, mixed platforms with software, hardware, various WAN and LAN technologies and IoT.

The successful candidate will provide thought leadership and advocacy for organisational change as well as lead a multi-disciplinary team of Software Development, Technical Architects, Infrastructure Engineers and DevOps which will enable work stream leads to a more iterative, user centred way of working. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a talented individual to play a key role alongside the leadership team in transforming an organisation with ambitious plans.

TOGAF Practitioner certification and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification.

Company

Homes England is the new national housing agency, recently launched to play a major role in fixing the housing market and enabling delivery of homes that our country needs.

Homes England brings together land, money, expertise, and planning & compulsory purchase powers, with a clear remit to facilitate delivery of sufficient new homes, where they are most needed, to deliver a sustained improvement in affordability.  We work locally in individual communities to help meet local priorities.

We invest mostly in building new homes, but also in creating employment floor space and other community facilities, in cities, towns and villages across the country. The homes we fund include affordable homes for rent and sale, and homes for rent or sale at market prices. Our investment helps build around half of all new homes built in England each year. It also helps increase local growth by creating jobs and supporting businesses.

We own public land, which we sell to house builders and others. This is one of the ways in which we overcome barriers to development and help increase the speed with which house builders can build new homes.

Homes England is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.

Homes England was launched by the Secretary of State on 11 January 2018. Homes England is the trading name of Homes and Communities Agency. To find out more about what we do please visit: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/homes-England.
