We are excited to be working with a leading regional firm of chartered surveyors, auctioneers, planners and estate agents. The business is looking to add a Graduate Rural Surveyor to the business in the Bedford office. The company is a modern, multi-disciplinary practice offering a comprehensive range of services, including residential and commercial sales and lettings, auctions, rural property & business, planning & development, renewable energy and architecture & building surveying.

The Job:

The role offers a supportive structure and pathway of training through to APC exams. As a Graduate Rural Surveyor, you will be working closely with the Land Agency team of experienced Surveyors, delivering expert advice on all manner of rural matters including:

Preparation of valuations of rural land and property, crops, machinery and livestock for lending and tax purposes.
To assist, when required, with the promotion and marketing of the firm through attendance at events and seminars, and preparation of publicity material.
Assisting the Land Agency team in general rural property and business advice and information.
Estate management including woodland management, estate maintenance, agricultural and business tenancies, water and sporting rights, rights of way, environmental and conservation matters.
Building and maintaining good relationships with clients and the rural community and to be well informed on all issues affecting the countryside.
Landlord and tenant matters including lettings, renewals and rent reviews.
Grant schemes including Basic Payment Scheme forms, subsidies and grants for clients.
Advice on compensation for compulsory purchase, wayleaves and easements.

The Candidate:

RICS Accredited Degree
Knowledge and interest of rural affairs and agriculture.
Have excellent attention to detail and a desire to strive for excellence.
Have a flexible approach to working and learning.
Great personable skills and be able to deal with people at all levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Have good levels of numeracy and literacy.
Be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office packages.
Ability to deal with a range of problems and challenges.
Able to demonstrate initiative and take responsibility whilst working within parameters.
