Estate Surveyor

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £52,073 to £62,900 per annum

Location: CSM - King's Cross, London UK

Hours: Full time

We are looking for an experienced professional to work as a senior member of our small Projects Team within a diverse Estates and Facilities directorate. Working collaboratively with our other Estate Surveyors, you will plan and manage the development and delivery of capital projects, planned maintenance programmes and minor works. Working alongside the senior management team, you will ensure that our existing estate is maintained and developed as one that befits our reputation as a world-class place of learning.

This varied project focused role could range from investigating and repairing a small roof leak, reconfiguring college/teaching facilities, planning and implementing the University’s maintenance programmes through to project managing a significant redevelopment of an existing building or new development. The University is a hotbed of creativity, innovation and invention and our work is diverse, varied and often fast-paced.

The Estates Projects Team delivers maintenance, refurbishment and alteration projects across our 16 academic sites in support of the University’s strategic aim of creating an inspirational, physical (and digital) environment. We also support a growing portfolio of Halls of Residences that the University owns or has responsibility to maintain. Our total estate ranges from listed historic buildings to new state-of-the-art facilities.

Why choose us?

We provide transformative education and world-leading research and enterprise and are at the centre of public debate for the future of arts, design, fashion and communication and an inspirational environment for students, staff and wider communities. We are engaged in a number of major change programmes over the next five years. This includes moves for two of our largest colleges, London College of Communication and London College of Fashion. We aim to be an equal opportunities employer embracing diversity in all areas of activity.

University of the Arts London offers generous leave, an attractive salary and pension plus a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity and diversity.

Your profile

You should be able to demonstrate that you have strong and proven surveying, construction project management and contract administration skills. You will be able to work independently and calmly under pressure across multiple and diverse projects, using your initiative to foresee and resolve issues. You must be able to work flexibly when faced with dynamic and challenging timescales whilst ensuring that activities are conducted in a completely safe manner that is compliant with regulations and meets the University’s high standards.

We are looking for someone who is technically proficient but also has excellent stakeholder management skills and can communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation.

You will contribute to the University at a time of major opportunity as we continue with our unprecedented estate transformation programme.

Closing date: 02 June 2019.

At UAL, everyone's identity matters. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all our diverse students, staff, and the creative and cultural sector partners with whom we engage. We aim to take every opportunity to progress equality and diversity, and celebrate the enrichment this brings to our community.
