Project Director - Client Side
Your new company
On behalf of our client, Hays Property & Surveying are currently recruiting for a Construction Project Director for a contract role overseeing a broad range of capital projects ranging from £500,000 - £100m. Our client is a public sector organization and currently is approaching a peak in works to be scheduled, therefore needing to take on additional resources to meet their needs. Due to a recent increase in funding, my client has the resources to execute on an array of projects that have been awaiting scheduling. The projects will range from simple internal refurbishments to other high risk build outs in challenging environments.
Your new role
As the Project Director, you will be responsible for the full life cycle of your portfolio of projects, from design and inception through to completion and handover. You will act as a key point of contact in all stakeholder management, producing business cases, appointing consultants, contractors and delivery teams. Each Project Director will oversee 5-10 projects which will range in value as mentioned above, up to £100m+. You will establish the goals of each project in terms of timeline, budget and business cases; demonstrate leadership and direction for the overall project; procurement strategy; selecting your project manager and design team; stakeholder engagement; technical guidance; reporting and monitoring and overseeing technical reviews.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate, you will have 10+ years of experience managing construction projects, refurbishments and estate redevelopment in complex environments. You must have experience in the procurement of major infrastructure projects which will include development of business cases and feasibility. You will have demonstrated experience of delivering infrastructure projects from inception through to final handover (that experience could be gained on different projects i.e. feasibility on one project, construction on another project). You will also have experience delivering a variety of projects including negotiation with contractors of delivery programmes, variation management and cost management. You will have a relevant professional or technical qualification to degree level or equivalent (e.g. project management, quantity surveying, and construction.) Finally, due to the nature of my clients work, it is a strict requirement of this role to complete DV (Developed Vetting) clearance. You will be able to start this role with SC (Security Clearance) while DV clearance is being sought.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be given the chance to work on some high profile, high value projects in some of the most exciting and challenging locations. You will lead the delivery of projects, select your contractors and delivery teams and have autonomy over your portfolio of projects. You will be paid a competitive daily rate to reflect the responsibilities and scope of this role.
