Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. This diverse and busy town has great public parks and leisure activities, competitive house pricing and excellent travel links. The Council are looking to appoint an Adaptations Building Surveyor to deliver Aids and Adaptations projects within the district.

Your new role

As the Adaptations Building Surveyor you will carry out surveys to resident’s homes and advise customers on the suitability and method of repair/adaptation to their property. This is likely to include installing wet rooms, widening doorways and minor extensions. The role will also involve preparing preliminary costs for prospective work and managing the performance of external contractors, including snagging. What you'll need to succeed


To be successful for this role you will need to have a minimum of an HNC/HND or degree in Building Surveying and have worked within an adaptations and property maintenance environment. Knowledge of the Equality Act (2010), Building Regulations part M “Access to and the use of buildings” and CDM are necessary requirements of the role. Excellent verbal and written skills are essential, and you must have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
