Dimensions of the role
The Facilities Management (FM) Team is responsible for supporting the Foundation in its teaching and wider operations by managing the Estate in terms of its long-term land use planning, space utilisation, maintenance of existing buildings and provision of new building requirements as funded by the Foundation and or private benefactors.

The FM team is responsible for the continued and safe operation of the Estate on a 24/7 basis. Additionally, it is responsible for refurbishments, upgrading, extensions and new buildings. FM delivers maintenance, capital projects, fire safety, energy management, grounds maintenance, statutory compliance, asbestos management, physical security, cleaning, custodial and transport services.

The Estate is comprised of 7 separate school sites within the city of Cambridge, surrounding countryside and Saffron Walden. Most of these sites contain several buildings ranging form Listed Buildings of historical interest to laboratories to state-of-the-art award-winning new buildings.

Role purpose
The role holder will lead effective management of FM, providing operational leadership for its overall function, in the context of supporting the Foundation’s teaching and wider activities.

This will involve the control of FM staff and the external supply chain with specific functional accountability for the following; soft FM services, transport, planned and reactive maintenance, project management of maintenance and capital projects, management of asbestos, compliance and asset management relating to land, buildings and mechanical and electrical services across the Estate.

Particular emphasis is placed on the role holder operating efficient and effective financial management and forecasting, provision of comprehensive, client centred service, delivering long term integrated FM and maintenance plans for fully exploiting the potential of the Foundation’s resources and offering advice on FM and construction related matters in respect of supporting the business needs and contributing to the Foundation’s Estate strategy.

Hours of work
Due to the seniority of the role, hours of work are in accordance with the needs of the post, with core hours of 0800-1600 (with call out requirement). This is a full time 52 week post. Occasional weekend and evening hours required.

Salary guide
Up to £50,000 FTE, depending on skills and experience.
