Job Details
A local authority based in Hertfordshire is currently seeking an experienced Estates Manager.
The role will be to manage Estates Management Project, as part of a 3 year Housing All Under One Roof Programme that will result in a significant change in the way housing services are delivered to customers, with a new and improved customer experience underpinned by streamlined business processes. This supports the Councils ambitions as part of the Future Town, Future Council programme.
Role
The main role will be leading and managing projects which will implement the new Estates Management Strategy and change the way people in the Housing service work. In managing the projects you will need to manage the budget, resources and risks and ensure that the benefits delivery can be tracked. Ensure stakeholders are engaged, understand and input to review of business process.
The successful candidate will develop and author persuasive business cases for change, and influence and negotiate to reach a decision on the proposal. They will plan and prepare projects so that they can realise the envisaged business benefits, and identify and manage interdependencies with other projects.
The nature of the role requires the person to formulate their own plans for solving difficulties on a day to day basis, and to exercise initiative and discretion. Some pieces of work involve handling and communicating sensitive information such as about service restructures and TUPE transfers. They may also handle information on behalf of one Council in the shared service that it would not be appropriate to share with another. It's therefore essential to communicate only the appropriate information and with considerable thought to the method with different stakeholders.
Contract
The position will be for an initial 6-month contract and there has already been indication that an extension is likely.
The contract will run off a 30 hour week, with homeworking and compressed hours available once you settle into the role.
