Job Details

We are recruiting for a Senior Building Surveyor with a mix of survey, professional and contract expertise to join our growing building surveying team within our London office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to strengthen our team and further develop the business working with existing clients and assisting in developing new business. You will work closely with the London Office Partner and the Head of Building Surveying to help achieve your career goals and aspirations. The day to day duties of the successful candidate will vary from Party Wall instructions through to building surveys, condition surveys, feasibility studies and the design and management of construction projects which could range in value from £100,000 up to £20m. In addition you will be required to assist with preparing fee and quality submissions.

As part of the role you will be responsible for managing junior members of staff and supporting APC candidates. You will also be responsible for managing and developing individual Clients and could be appointed to head up certain surveying services, dependant on experience.

We provide a full multi-disciplinary service providing technical, professional and consultancy services to residential, education, local government, commercial and industrial organisations. Current projects that our team are involved in include

  • refurbishing a former Victorian school into smart new office accommodation,
  • creating a specialist unit for young people with autism
  • recladding and modernisation of tower blocks
  • new build social housing projects with contract ranging from 11 units to 147 units
  • Condition surveys of public buildings for several London Boroughs
  • Fire protection works to tower blocks and supported housing schemes
  • Managing small capital works and repairs contracts to primary and secondary schools
  • Acting a Technical advisor on school investment programmes

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a track record of service excellence and commercial success, with a good record of delivery across either residential, education or local government sectors. They should be committed to delivering a proactive approach to the role and have the following skill set:

  • Degree qualified in Building Surveying or similar technical discipline
  • MRICS membership
  • Ability to successfully manage complex projects
  • Excellent report writing skills and ability to provide first class advice to clients
  • Excellent specification writing skills
  • Detailed understanding of procurement and JCT contracts
  • Track record of managing contracts from inception to completion
  • Able to prioritise workload and delivery to deadlines
  • Previous experience of working with a consultancy
  • Full driving licence
