Permanent, 37 hours a week

Salary: £35,934 - £40,760 per annum (Grade 10 SCP 33 to SCP 38) plus casual car user allowance

Based at: Strategic Property and Valuation, The Quays, Brunel Way, Briton Ferry, Neath, SA11 2GG

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent post within the Strategic Property and Valuation Team for an RICS Chartered Surveyor with a General Practice background and who ideally has experience of working within the public sector. Preferably, you will also be an RICS Registered Valuer.

Working under the Principal Estates Manager, you will be part of small team of property professionals and expected to provide professional Estate Management and Valuation advice whilst also assisting the Council with the management of its substantial and varied land and property portfolio.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake rating and insurance valuations, together with statutory and asset valuations for capital accounting purposes. You will also be expected to undertake valuations and financial appraisals on behalf of the Council’s other directorates as well as providing valuation advice as part of a multi-disciplinary team on appropriate development/redevelopment projects.

You will act on behalf of the Council when negotiating and implementing various property transactions, including: lease agreements, lease renewals, rent reviews, acquisitions and disposals.

You will be expected to assist in the development of the Council’s Corporate Asset Management Plan and Accommodation Strategy, together the preparation of reports for the Council’s Regeneration and Sustainable Development Cabinet Board.
