Assistant Project Manager - Girls' Day School Trust - Central London

Your new company

I have been exclusively retained by Girls' Day School Trust, the largest group of independent schools in the UK, to secure the appointment of an Assistant Project Manager. The GDST estate consists of 23 schools, two academies and the Trust Office, which is based in Victoria.

Your new role

You will be reporting and assisting the Senior/Project Managers in coordinating the activities of projects to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. Under the direction of the S/PM, the Assistant Project Manager is expected to take on any/all tasks in the quest to learn all he/she can about construction.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of construction experience and project delivery. An industry recognised qualification in project / construction management or similar background is desirable but not essential.


Your main responsibilities will involve:

* Support the Director of Estates to deliver a professional Estates focused knowledge base to support and enhance best practice throughout the Trust and to implement strategic investment for the Trust

  • Provide support to other Estates team staff plus schools teams.
  • Follow the Policies and Best Practices.
  • Assist the Senior Project Manager in the execution of the management plan for assigned projects
  • Help coordinate and manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Co-ordinate and manage external consultant teams, preparing contracts and briefs.
  • Review project designs and contribute ideas for value solutions
  • Carry out daily operational tasks in an effective and timely manner
  • Facilitate communications between office and project team members
  • Track and directly report project status updates to Senior/Project Manager and PMO
  • Contribute to problem solving issues and suggest ways to improve projects
  • Organize, file, and maintain all current project documents
  • Enter information into and manage the Asset and Project databases.


What you'll need to succeed

* Bachelor's degree in a construction or related field preferred
* 2+ years' experience in project management or as a graduate role in a property/construction related field.
* Knowledgeable in our specific field
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Project essential) and other management software
