We are looking for:
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to ensure high Safety, Health and Environmental management standards across our diverse property portfolio, supporting in the delivery of the Government’s ambitious housing targets and help tackle one of the biggest issues facing the country today? Homes England are seeking a motivated, experienced and technically competent health, safety and environment professional to join the Safety, Health and Environmental team.

The land we own to support housing delivery is a diverse mix of surplus public sector, former industrial and commercial land and property, in excess of 7000 hectares in size presenting varying degrees of safety, health and environmental risks. The size of the development estate is set to increase as we embark on a large programme of land transfers from other government departments, and acquisitions of former commercial property, to support the Government’s ambition to build over 300,000 new homes per annum. We are also a major construction client, de-risking sites and assembling land ready for housing development. In order to support the growth in the organisation we will also be opening additional offices across England.

Our successful candidate will:
In this role, the successful candidate will deliver provide support and advice to employees and teams across our regional offices in the Midlands and South and advice and H&S auditing services to our development estate across the same area. If you like a challenge and a job that involves continuously learning and collaborative working this role is for you. We are therefore looking for an experienced Safety, Health and Environmental  (SHE) adviser with the pre requisite skills, experience and qualifications, to provide  support and advisory services to Homes England, in particular, the Estates Management, Facilities and Land teams.  The role is primarily related to Health & Safety, as there is a specific environmental adviser within the team also; a minimum Level 3 Environmental qualification or basic knowledge of environmental legislation is desirable. Although the post is based in Bristol or Coventry there will be a need to travel to other Homes England offices and sites across the Midlands and Southern England with the occasional overnight stay.

The skills we would like are:
Graduate or higher Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (GradIOSH).
Demonstrable experience of working in an advisory role, preferably within a property, construction or facilities related environment.
Knowledge of health, safety and environmental management systems including auditing processes.
Excellent communication and presentation skills - experienced in the delivery of health and safety training.
Intermediate level Microsoft Office capability - Outlook, Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

Essential: Level 5-6 or degree qualification in Health and Safety e.g. NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent, NVQ level 5.
