Peace Recruitment are delighted to be, once again, assisting a national initiative set up by the Scottish Government to source a Construction Project Director within the Edinburgh area. The ideal candidate would be looking to move to a client side organisation from a Consultancy or Contractor background.

You would be joining a well-established team with the drive and enthusiasm to succeed in delivering excellent results within their sector, this is a unique opportunity not to be missed.

What can you expect from this opportunity?

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Project Director will work with clients, supply chain partners and external third parties such as developers and funders to develop and deliver a number of community infrastructure projects.  The successful candidate will be required to lead and coordinate the activities of numerous parties in-order to develop bespoke capital and revenue funded community infrastructure projects in partnership from inception through to financial close and project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • It will be essential for the post-holder to establish close and strong relationships with a     range of stakeholders.
  • Work with Clients and SFT to understand and scope out the required outcomes of identified and potential Hub projects
  • Identify appropriate and affordable funding solutions
  • Coordinate feasibility studies and establish teams as required
  • Develop projects which satisfy all the requirements of the Hub business processes. In doing so, lead teams in the development of the following: Architectural, Structural, and Services Deign to RIBA Stage 4 or equivalent      
  • Work with  Legal, Financial, Insurance and Technical advisors 
  • Negotiate Sub-Contract Agreements with both Construction and Facilities Management Supply Chain Partners, including Technical output requirements.
  • Coordinate compliant and affordable Stage Reports
  • Analyse affordability and ensure the provision of value for money
  • Analyse whole life costings, including options for low / zero carbon  
  • Assess the key risks associated with proposed developments and ensure that these are mitigated or that provision is made to accommodate those risks
  • Ensure that proposed developments fall within the company’s remit.

Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and develop projects from inception through to completion and into operations  
  • An understanding of public sector processes and the ability to coordinate activities with those requirements Familiarity with the preparation of business cases and project bidding. ·        
  • MRICS or APM desirable
  • Demonstrable knowledge working in a variety of project sectors
