Position: Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Full benefits

Carriera have been retained by a chartered surveyor firm based in Hertfordshire. The company is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work for projects within their nursing home sector. They pride themselves to providing a quality, tailored service to their clients whilst creating a distinctive approach to all projects they obtain.

They provide the best services to all clients no matter how large or small scaled their projects are because to them every project must be treated equally. The sectors in which they work in includes, healthcare, education and commercial building, which for many years has allowed them to offer a complete service for both cost management and also project management.

This goes all the way to the concept of the design to the final completion of the projects. As of these qualities, the company has since been recognised as one of the largest independent property developers within the care home sector. The company is steadily looking to expand and grow and by having another QS in the company, you will be very much valued as everyone else.

The role:

As a quantity surveyor, you are responsible for leading projects and also the dealing with all aspects of how they are delivered from the foundation to the completion of the project. You will be preparing cost plans and the quality assessments on projects with both pre and post contracting. You are responsible with building relationships with clients and being able to managing and meeting their expectations when needed to be met.

In addition, as the quantity surveyor, your tasks will be to produce monthly reports for clients, dealing with monthly valuations, managing the tender process and being the main point of contacts with clients. Also, you will be the main point of contact when dealing with contractors and the design team in order to build that efficiency for the team so projects can be delivered accordingly.

This role you will allow you to manage multiple projects whilst having the assistance of graduates who you will ideally be mentoring and guiding them through the process. Meetings with clients will also need to be attended where you will at times be in charge of chairing them.

About you:

You must already have some experience working within a similar quantity surveying role. You will have either a bachelor’s degree and masters in quantity surveying or any relevant engineering course. You may already be chartered or you’re on route to attaining full chartership which is the MRICS.

It will be advantageous if you have prior knowledge of JCT 2016 forms of contract, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must have the ability to work without being micromanaged in some form, the ability to work well in a team environment and also being able to communicate excellently with clients and contractors. Clearly, this will require for an individual who is efficient in both oral and written skills.

The benefits you will be receiving will include a competitive salary of between £35,000 to £40,000. You will also be entitled to a company mobile phone, a bonus scheme. In addition, you will have 25 days annual leave plus statutory public holidays.
