The School of Civil Engineering and Surveying invites applications for the post of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Real Estate Planning and Development to contribute to professionally accredited undergraduate, postgraduate and degree apprenticeship courses.  This is an exciting opportunity to join our School in a role that brings together professional practice and academia.   Development of employable graduates is at the heart of our School and you will therefore be expected to support the delivery of our courses and provide an outstanding experience for our students.  In addition to the ability to engage, motivate and support students, the role will provide the opportunity to develop research activities.  

The successful applicant will have specialist expertise in planning procedures and practice.  The role requires excellent communication and management skills, a willingness to engage with a broad range of built environment themes and an enthusiasm for the development of innovative teaching and research initiatives.   A PhD in a relevant area or equivalent professional experience are essential.  

The School has an excellent staff-student relationship and healthy undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment representing a broad range of professionally accredited courses, supported by excellent links with both practice and professional institutions.  The University of Portsmouth’s teaching has achieved the highest possible ‘Gold’ rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework in recognition of the excellence of its teaching.  Full support will be provided to develop academic skills through the Academic Professional Apprenticeship or APEX Programme.
