Job Details

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to travel and manage your own projects as well as identifying regional business development opportunities generally and assisting with the growth of Client base.

You will be representing the Company as a key Client contact, predominantly in the Thames Valley and M4 Corridor with the flexibility of working from home or the Berkshire office when required.

You will be carrying out the duties of Principal Designer on behalf of the company for appointed projects, to plan, manage, monitor and co-ordinate Health & Safety in pre-construction phases of projects, including identifying, eliminating or controlling foreseeable risks and ensuring designers carry out their duties.

Other responsibilities include: 

>  Providing CDM advice and support to Client Teams, advising clearly of their CDM Duties and assisting with development of CDM strategy for projects.
>  Assisting with the development of Client Health & Safety systems & policies where appropriate
>  Providing CDM and Health & Safety Advice to projects, providing additional related services where opportunities identified.
>  Attending Design & Project Meetings as required throughout projects.
>  Visiting project sites prior to construction to carry out initial risk appraisals and during construction to review arrangements (as required).
>  Preparing, co-ordinating and distributing relevant Health & Safety Information to other design & project team members, using company format where required.
>  Providing advice & support to project teams during tender review periods as required.
>  Reviewing Construction Phase Plans prepared by Principal Contractor and advising on suitability (both to Client and other GHPC CDM colleagues).
>  Liaising with other CDM Team members, assisting with project information flow, reviewing & advising on project deadlines and providing advice & support.

You must have the following skills and qualifications:

>  NEBOSH Construction Certificate is essential as a minimum
>  Previous experience of acting in a Construction Health & Safety role 
>  Membership of the Association for Project Safety and / or IOSH is desirable
>  An understanding of Health & Safety Legislation is required 
>  At Work Regulations and good working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2015 are all essential
>  An existing Health & Safety qualification OR Construction qualification and Construction Experience is essential - preferably NEBOSH Diploma and/or NEBOSH
>  Construction Certificate or relevant degree
>  Possession of, or working towards a relevant qualification (MSc, BEng, BSc, or equivalent) and membership of other relevant professional bodies (RIBA, MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS, MIStructE, MICE is preferred.

>  The successful applicant will have comprehensive knowledge of the physical built environment and construction processes with experience of working in the construction industry.

You must have a full clean UK driving licence is essential for this position since it will require travel to fulfil the role.

You should be expected to attend, project meetings, site visits etc. on a regular basis within the South East and London.
