Hays is delighted to be working in partnership with Epping Forest District Council (EFDC) to recruit a Team Manager for Building Control and Asset Management.

EFDC are in the process of changing how they think about service delivery in the future and this role is a key part of that process. The district is facing an unprecedented period of growth, which will bring changes in demographics, in the types of services required and, in the ways, people access those services.

The drivers for change are:

• Customers – Building services around the people we serve
• Efficiency – Making the very best of our people, time and money
• Effectiveness – An agile flexible workforce achieving our ambitions and working together and in partnership

As the Team Manager you will be responsible for providing strong leadership to the Building Control and Asset Management teams.

You will be responsible for day to day management of the teams including monitoring staff performance and identifying development opportunities. In addition, you will recognise and maximise commercial opportunities including innovative marketing opportunities. You will also operate the Building Control service within a simple ringfenced budget.

To be successful in this position, you need to have experience of either managing a Building Control team or have previous experience as a Building Control Surveyor. Experience gained in an Asset Management will be advantageous.

You will have a demonstrable track record of managing, leading, motivating and inspiring staff in the delivery of services and/or projects. As part of the interview process you will be assessed on how you embody the Council’s core values and behaviours.

In return EFDC are offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits package which includes flexible working arrangements and career and professional development.
