Housing Officer required on a temporary contract basis for 3 months by a large Housing Association

Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large Housing Association with properties throughout NI, to recruit a Housing Officer on a temporary contract basis for an initial period of 3 months with the possibility of further extension.

Your new role
Working within the existing team, you will be responsible for providing a customer focused housing management service to Association tenants. This will include the following main duties:

Provide housing advice and information to tenants and the general public;
Ensure service users are supported to understand their rights, entitlements and responsibilities;
Allocate property in accordance with the requirements of the Housing Selection Scheme;
Investigate reports of Anti-Social Behaviour;
Ensure that tenants in rent arrears are provided with appropriate levels of support, including liaison with the Floating Support service;
Process house sales applications;
Promote tenant involvement and participation in the housing management service;
Liaise with the Association's joint management partners;
Recovery of current and past tenant rent arrears to minimise rent loss;
Manage void stock to minimise rent loss.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position you must satisfy the following essential criteria:

Minimum of two years housing management experience AND a third level housing related qualification, OR; Five years housing management experience, OR;
Five years' experience of delivering formal housing advice or tenancy support, OR;
Five years' experience in a property management company or lettings agency dealing with estate management / service charges / rents accounts or tenancy matters.

Additionally, your experience should include:

Knowledge of current social housing policy and issues;
Skilled in business use of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Word and Excel;
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;
Ability to relate to residents and public;
Good communication skills, both oral and written;
Be able to demonstrate the ability to plan and organise workload and meet deadlines;
Good organisational skills.
