A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. Following the opening of its international airport in October 2017, St Helena is better placed to develop both economically and socially.

Designing new builds or extensions or alterations to existing structures you will be working on individual buildings or on large redevelopment schemes and your responsibility could extend to the design of the surrounding landscape and spaces.

You will assess the needs of each building and its users, advising on the practicality of their project and creating technical drawings based on given specifications and calculations. Observing the Planning and Building regulations, you will take into account the impact on the local environment. You must ensure compliance with all relevant standards, keeping within financial budgets and deadlines

Alongside the Quantity Surveyor and Procurement Services, you will prepare tender application and presentations and help with the preparation of tender documentation.

Holding an engineering qualification to at least HND Level and experienced in a similar role, you have outstanding fluency and skill in AutoCad with relevant technical design experience.

The St Helena National Trust is responsible for the protection, enhancement and promotion of the Island’s natural and built heritage which include restoring the Island’s fragile Gumwood forests, conserving the endemic Wirebird, promoting the protection of the historic buildings and fortifications, and educating and training local people.
