A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. Following the opening of its international airport in October 2017, St Helena is better placed to develop both economically and socially.
Projects vary between refurbishment works and new builds including our Secure Mental Health Unit and relocation of the Judicial Services office accommodation. You will deliver against output, outcome and spend targets through the effective profiling, risk management and monitoring of key milestones and other KPIs. To do this, you will implement standard project management practises, using PRINCE2 or similar.
You will be responsible for a project team and where applicable act as Contracts Manager. You may oversee a whole site or a big part of a large-scale, complex project. Managing the practical side of every stage of build you will act as Project Lead and ensure that information is presented to Project Boards for approval. You will plan the entire project and document all the jobs that must be completed, ensuring that all trades people and contractors are working together to an agreed plan.
Participating in the performance management process you will identify solutions for filling skill/capacity gaps while monitoring construction productivity and schedule performance. It will require you to maintain the Issue register, Risk register, Daily log and Lessons log.
Holding appropriate Professional qualifications including Construction Management/Site Management/Project Management, you will also have an internationally recognised qualification in IT. Substantial experience as a Construction or Project Manager should be supported with specific experience as a Construction or Project Manager in a construction and/or infrastructure environment. You should be comfortable in managing four or five concurrent projects.
