Interim Property and Estates Manager

Macdonald & Company have been instructed by a leading Local Authority based in Kent to recruit an Interim Property & Estates Manager for an initial period of 3 months with the view to extend this for a further 3 months. The position is to provide cover pending the permanent recruitment of a new Strategic Head of Commercial and Property and is offering a rate of £350 per day. The role will include the following;

• Line management of an Asset Surveyor and Construction Project Manager
• Act as senior property advisor for acquisition, management, development and disposal of Council property assets and the Investment Portfolio
• Act as advisor to the Local Housing Ltd and cover the as yet appointed Property Investment & Development Surveyor
• Support the Council project team responsible for the procurement of the new Leisure Centre (c£20m) being delivered by Alliance Leisure and the operator
• Support the development of sites and the small sites programme - small scale residential schemes
• Support the development (underway) of 10 town houses and their disposal (c£12.5m)- working with external advisors
• Work with Kent Estates Partnership on One Public Estate projects
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, including planning and legal service areas, and with partners and external advisors to deliver projects and specific outcomes
• An awareness of economic development issues would be an added bonus
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to forge positive relationships and good political awareness and acumen, having worked in an authority with ambition and with the ability to see the wider piece beyond property in its own right
