Hays Property & Surveying are currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor on behalf of my client, a Higher Education Institution based in London. They are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their minor works team on a short term temporary basis with the opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
Your new role
As the Building Surveyor, you will be working within the minor works team and reporting into a Senior Surveyor. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of varied and in-depth projects across the estate. You will work both individually and part of a team to conduct inspections, provide design specifications and technical advice and support to Project Managers with the delivery of construction contracts on a wide range of products. You will be responsible for providing building surveyor related advice and technical input including design and tender drawings to support refurbishment schemes; undertake technical building inspections producing feasibility and concept design reports; inspect specific building defects.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will have previous experience as a Building Surveyor on similar projects preferably within a similar industry/similar institution. Chartership is not essential but will be looked upon highly and you will need to have had experience working on both residential and commercial buildings. You will be able to undertake specialist building surveys which will include feasibility studies, condition surveys, measured surveys and defect diagnosis. You will have proven track record of the provision of design and specifications at all stages of a construction project and a strong knowledge of standard forms of contract. You will be computer literate and have a high level of stakeholder communication skills.
