Company

We're the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) and we've been here, looking out for animals, since 1824.

It's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion.

Every day, with the help of our people and our generous supporters, we take steps to achieve our mission. From rescuing a stranded deer to changing the law, we've already achieved so much and come so far.

Take a look around these pages to discover all about our history and find out what makes us the leading animal welfare charity.

The RSPCA is a registered charity in England and Wales. Charity number 219099.

We were the first to introduce a law to protect animals and work hard to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering. Through our campaigns we raise standards of care, and awareness of issues, affecting animals today.

Our vision

Our vision is to one day live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. And that is what we work towards every day.

Our values

  • We are compassionate.
  • We are inspirational.
  • We are committed.
  • We are expert.
  • We act with integrity.

We rely on your support to help us push for changes in the law to improve the welfare of animals on farms, in labs, in the wild, in paddocks or our homes.

Through investigations and prosecutions we stand up to those who deliberately harm animals to send out a clear message - we will not tolerate animal abuse. Our highly trained officers tackle neglect and cruelty on every level working to stamp out animal cruelty a.

Animals can rely on us to rescue them when they need us most. To rehabilitate them wherever possible, provide them with the very best veterinary care and to find them new homes, either through rehoming or release.
