The Role: My client has a vital role in championing change and improvement in cancer care through research and innovation, education and leading-edge practice. You will support the Director of Projects and Estates in managing the Capital Estates Programme. Professionally accountable for estates project construction and implementation of delegated schemes within the Trust's Investment Programme to improve the environment for patients and staff.

Job Purpose:

To work as a specialist professional as part of the projects department.
To provide expert specialist and professional construction and estates projects advice to other Estates staff, Directors, Senior Management, Trust Boards and external agencies.
To independently manage a portfolio of complicated delegated projects from £30K to £100M from inception to completion, including project management, design, contract administration, site supervision and commissioning under the Trust Capital Programme.
To appoint and manage external professional consultants within an authorised budget as a budget holder.
To manage capital budgets, purchase professional services, contractor works and physical assets as part of the Trust Capital Programme.
To be responsible for producing and implementing a number of department processes and procedures.
To deputise for Senior Managers within the projects department as and when required.
Responsible for the operational commissioning of health buildings.

Requirements for the Senior Project Manager:

A BSc or BEng (as above) with demonstrable extensive Senior Management Experience in a similar organisation.
Membership of a professional institution such as RICS, RIBA, CIBSE, CIOB, IMechE or IET.
Knowledge and experience of relevant Health and Safety legislation and in particular the Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
Experience of liaising with Statutory bodies.
Certificated BTEC training achieved in Medical Gas AP

Qualifications, Skills and Experience for the Senior Project Manager:

6 years' experience (minimum)
Ideally from Architectural, Engineering or Quantity Surveying background, with real world experience of the mechanisms of project delivery
