Job Details

My client is an established UK wide Consultancy group that provide a full range of design and consultancy services to the built environment.

They are looking to expand their Cost Management team with the addition of a Senior Quantity Surveyor in their head office in Central London.

Main Duties

  • Providing reliable strategic and informed commercial (financial and contractual) advice;
  • offering Clients peace of mind that prices secured via the selected tender process are robust and supported by thorough documentation;
  • Ensuring value for money is realised in terms of the final quality, price and delivery programme achieved.
  • Lead / influence the technical team to deliver the following accountabilities and responsibilities:
  • Ensure project work meets all relevant technical and professional standards on a consistent basis.
  • Deliver work to meet/exceed Clients' expectations in terms of brief, service innovation, overall quality of work, value for money and delivery to planned timescales.
  • Achieve a continuous improvement in the technical quality and innovation of the work produced.
  • Ensure that work is performed in compliance with relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Promotion of the client pledge with customers to ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Ensure that the Business Management System and the Quality Management
  • Development of new business opportunities and repeat business.
  • Preparation of PQQs and Fee Bids and in the production of website news, case studies and other marketing content for all projects.
  • Support the Regional/Group Manager in the development of the Profit Centre Business Plans.
  • Provide advice / technical support to the rest of the team and the Business as a whole on an ad hoc basis.
  • Actively participate in training plans.
  • Maximisation of the value generated by managing all projects to achieve or exceed the gross margin targets.

Technical Ability

  • To have sufficient breadth of technical knowledge and expertise across all aspects of quantity surveying services to be able to ensure all work is delivered to a high technical standard.
  • Be able to understand the technical and design requirements of projects and ensure compliance with the relevant technical, health, safety and environmental standards.
  • To be able to play an active and/or lead role in the delivery of the technical work.
  • Input into the technical nature of work and provide guidance to ensure an appropriate approach is taken to deliver the technical output.
  • To ensure the accuracy, appropriateness and completeness of the client/project brief ensuring the brief is fully understood and confirmed before its acceptance.
  • Full understanding of how to use Workbench and the interpretation of key reports relating to job profitability and revenue forecasting.
  • Apply yourself and learn how to use new software appropriate to your role, such as CATO, CAD Measure and BIM Measure.
  • Develop an understanding of the Business Management System, Quality Management systems and professional Project Management / Quality Assurance plans and processes.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the companies policies, procedures and working practices

Management and Leadership

  • Assist with the management of workload in order to ensure satisfactory completion of all tasks to agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with the project team and Client as necessary to achieve agreed targets.
  • Understand and communicate the Client's aspirations, establish the Project Brief and agree the best implementation strategy.
  • To assist in developing collaborative relationships with other team leaders in the business to deliver the portfolio of projects.
