The position

Reporting to the construction director, carrying out all pre-construction and planning activities including; reviewing key risks at the land purchase stage and investigating possible risk mitigating strategies. For example: The sequencing of basements and buildings over and below ground structures on numerous sites, advising on moving buildings in a Masterplan to mitigate risks and developing lessons learned reports from previous projects to report into scheme architects to ensure Masterplans remove risks where possible.

Main duties

• You will work from land acquisition stage through to site start and responsible for creating project plans for all sites to hand over to the delivery team.
• Working closely with the development teams to undertake scheme options appraisals and feasibility. Advising them on build and technical risks of schemes.
• Working closely with the commercial and technical teams to ensure the build strategy and key risks/opportunities are communicated into the cost plan.
• Liaison with the technical and commercial departments to provide input into design considerations, temporary works considerations, tender package inclusions.
• Creation, review and updating of project programmes for the pre-construction phase from land bid through to build completion including planning, preconstruction, design and procurement programmes.
• Review design, build-ability of projects, logistics and managing external consultants.
• Planning strategies, working with sub-contractors, interrogating design and driving modern methods of construction.

The person

• Good understanding of the construction process with previous experience of Microsoft Project or Asta software
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills and high attention to detail
• Previous experience in a Pre-construction or project management role
