Job Details

Our client is a growing Real Estate Property and Construction Consultancy who have investments all over the world and are now looking to take on a Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveryor to form part of their construction delivert team.

You will be working on projects based all over the world including Bulgaria, Nigeria, Costa Rica and Colorado!

The main stay of the projects will be Commercial Office refurbishments as well as Hotels.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to break away from the norm and would really suit that person who loves internation travel and spend the next 2 years gaining invaluable experience working on high end projects, worldwide.

You will be working very closely with the Global Head of Construction and due to the nature of this position, you should have demonstarable experience in working autonomously and engaging on a project from inception, Pre-Contract to seeing the project through to delivery and final account.

This is more than your standard delivery role as you will be the No.2 to the Head of Construction whereby she would set the strategy and you would execute it!

Below is what you can expect to have experience within:

Contracts / Commercial Manager

Ensuring the client's commercial position is properly considered in all client and project decision making

Maintaining a clear picture of outturn cost in accordance with standard framework, by ensuring monthly cost reports, fully and accurately reflect all contracts let, change, risks, opportunities and variation orders and reporting to senior client level

Providing the unit manager with a regular and comprehensive picture of budget, commitment and payment

Providing the foundations for driving performance of consultant's, contractors and the supply chain generally

Maintaining positive supply chain behaviour by dealing with payment applications comprehensively, with clarity and within contract timescales

Identification of actions by client/project manager which potentially undermine the client's commercial position under the contract or are detrimental to delivery within agreed time, cost and quality parameters

Resourcing against the needs of the project, capability and fit

Providing advice and constructive feedback

Responsible for the overall commercial performance of the projects/program deployed on

Drive Continuous Improvement and consistency of commercial processes

Review/update/maintain commercial protocols and mechanisms

Review/update/maintain a set of integrated policies, procedures, tools, trackers and system to consistently monitor and measure commercial activity across the project

Review/update/maintain central commercial trackers (payment, contract information tracker etc.)

Cost Management

estimating/cost planning

procurement advice/reporting

tender documentation

tender process management

tender evaluation and contract award

contract documentation

interim valuations

assessment and agreement of variations/compensation events/claims

post-contract cost control

agreement and preparation of final accounts

Due to nature of this position, it is also expected that you will have gained some form of formal accreditation such as MRICS or equivalent.
