In-house Valuation Surveyor (Financial Services)

Hays Property and Surveying are seeking a Valuation Surveyor to join the in-house real estate team of a leading financial services provider and lender in Hampshire.

The business are a FTSE 250 specialist lending group that operate within the private real estate and retail savings market. The group primarily works with Private Investors and Limited businesses to provide lending support on areas such as private rented Buy-to-Let, commercial and semi-commercial mortgages, residential development finance and other bespoke or specialist funding lines.

As part of the Group's continued growth and recent business merger, they are now seeking a new Surveyor to join the team, focusing on their residential property portfolio sectors.

Your new role
As an In-house Valuation Surveyor, your core principles will be to support the group by providing valuation, loan security, consultancy and quality assurance advice and strategies on a range of residential property types. Here you will reviewing and consulting on new and existing client lending, aligning them with the group's risk profile, through property inspection and asset analysis. Typical properties will include Buy-to-Let portfolios, student accommodation blocks and private housing developments.

Specific responsibilities may include;

• Review qualifying valuation reports prepared by third party consultants in line with the group's risk policy and agreed service level standards.
• Undertake property visits and site inspections.
• Communicate and liaise with Underwriting, Sales and Senior Management teams regarding the suitability of property for loan security purposes.
• Provide property reports and update Transactional Credit Committee on specific cases, where required.
• Provide day-to-day support to the group on property related matters and consult on lending strategies for specifics cases, where required.
• Assist with the delivery of property and valuation training to other departments where necessary.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed within the role, you will need;

• MRICS qualification
• A minimum of 2 years+ post qualification experience within property valuation
• Ideally hold experience in undertaking residential portfolio valuations such as specialist Buy-to-Let
• A strong understanding of the property lending process and valuation methodology
• Strong numeracy, literacy and verbal communication skills
