Surveyor / Senior Surveyor - Southampton

You will be part of the existing team being required to deliver sometimes potentially complex tasks and projects within prescribed timescales and budgetary constraints to the highest standard.  Delivery of tasks and projects will also require the management of team members and commercial constraints.  The ability to successfully deliver tasks and projects from inception to completion and consistently lead projects is key.

Reporting to the team leader, the role will also include resourcing planning, budgeting, monthly finance reporting, etc.

The role will require excellent communication skills in both a project team and client facing environment. 

We are looking for a keen, progressive, versatile individual who can adopt a flexible approach to their role to provide support to all teams across the office as workload dictates.  An individual who is willing to go the extra mile to ensure work is delivered correctly and accurately and on time which may include working outside of normal office hours.

The role will include work on nuclear licensed sites.  Applicants will be required to undertake and complete suitable security clearance.

Your Role

It will be your role to ensure that all projects are delivered to the relevant standards, cost and time, while overseeing the delivery of non-strategic projects under guidance where required.

You will be supporting the delivery of major projects or a range of smaller ones requiring specialist input, and providing the day-to-day client interface, conducting site visits for technical assessment or problem-solving.

You will be reporting on project progress, risks and issues and ensures that these are highlighted and followed through. You will also be contributing to the delivery of innovative solutions for clients, and ensuring that costs are managed and controlled to ensure the achievement of project profitability.

You will be expected to pro-actively identifies business development opportunities with existing and new clients and escalate for action.

You will also be supporting the professional development and coaching of the team, plus ensuring that all project activities are managed in line with group policy and procedures. Lastly you will be aiding the development of other team members.

About you

You must have a relevant Technical Degree for this role.

It is a fundamental aspect that you have good knowledge of relevant software used; AutoCAD, Excel, Leica Geo-Office and other survey related software.

There are specific technical skills requirements that you will need in this role, which includes; Extensive experience in the use of Total Station and GPS equipment for topographical surveys, setting-out and the establishment of high order control networks.

Experience of Laser Scanning and the processing and interpretation of data captured, Levelling or precise levelling, Internal building and elevation surveys, Experience of digital terrain modelling and design work and lastly, Experience in other forms of geo-spatial data capture, such as laser scanning and photogrammetry.

It is essential that you have a high level of knowledge of relevant software solutions; you must also have experience of supervising the work of professional and support staff. You must be well adaptable as you will be working individually and on occasions within a team.

For this role previous nuclear experience would be beneficial but not essential.

You should have a chartered membership of appropriate professional body, suitability for security clearance and lastly you must have a full UK driving licence.

Due to the frequent on-site work the person must be able to demonstrate the technical competence, self-reliance and motivation necessary when dealing with clients and public, or in resolving problems that arise.
