Construction Data Analyst

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to analyse construction and economic data and maintain relevant indices, measuring the movement in prices over time, location, etc., relating to tender price, building cost and related indices to support RICS data products, services and bespoke consultancy work. It will include aspects of design, development and review of new and existing indices, considering the changing availability of data, developments in construction and tendering methods and the evolving demands of the construction sector.

Key Achievements & Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the existing indices to programme, ensuring that they are fit-for-purpose
  • Achieving a satisfaction survey rating of 80% for products and services
  • Implementing the programme of indices review to ensure continual improvement to the quality of indices
  • Implementation of an alternative Tender Price Index (TPI) methodology
  • Preparation of indices to the agreed schedule for publication
  • The analysis and synthesis of economic and market data
  • Supporting the development of new applications and methodologies to ensure our indices are fit for purpose
  • Contributing to the KPIs for the team to monitor performance, streamlining processes, procedures and methods of working to improve efficiency
  • Reviewing and implementing QA procedures and Business Continuity Plans
  • Working with Product Management and other RICS departments to maximise the effectiveness of the indices offering Experience

 

Required

  • Data analysis gained through previous/current employment
  • Project management
  • Index methodology
  • The construction industry and its supply chain
  • Government indices (ONS, Consultative Committee on Construction Industry Statistics)
  • BCIS indices and competitor indices
  • Construction costs and prices
  • Quantity surveyor with proven statistical knowledge
  • (or)
  • Statistical qualification: minimum 2:1 degree in statistics, data science, mathematics or other discipline with a substantial statistical content.
  • (or)
  • An alternative qualification may be acceptable such as an economics degree, if accompanied by equivalent knowledge gained through experience in a construction related discipline
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distil information clearly
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Proficient use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, a working knowledge of Access and statistical software packages would be desirable Hiring Manager
