Buildings and Capital Works Manager
Location: Edinburgh, Perth
£41,425 - £45,126, plus benefits
Background Information
As Buildings and Capital Works Manager you will play a key role in developing our buildings strategy. Creating a long term capital investment programme and delivering on these major projects. You will be responsible for your team of Building Surveyors and their delivery of the maintenance and compliance programme for Forestry and Land Scotland’s wide and varied built estate. Managing a national team you will provide excellent leadership and great customer service to the organisation.
You will be responsible for the provision of safe, compliant and efficient operational buildings.
The key responsibilities for the role will include
You will manage, motivate and provide leadership to a national team of Building Surveyors and support staff.
Develop a strategic approach to the identification and prioritisation of capital investments, developing the capital investment programme, influence and deliver on our organisational priorities.
Identify strategic issues and propose innovative best value solutions
Be responsible for the management and delivery of maintenance and compliance programmes across our national estate.
Manage budgets, undertake financial planning, monitoring, reporting and meet our assurance framework requirements
You will be responsible for the provision of safe, compliant and efficient operational buildings. Ensure compliance of our buildings under all legislation, regulation and policy obligations and making sure all built estate risks are identified, quantified, managed or escalated in a timely manner
You will be the expert in the field, offering guidance and advice to all other staff on property related matters. Make authoritative recommendations to the Head of Fleet and Buildings and Lead Area Land Agent in respect of changes to legislative requirements and management of the building portfolio.
Manage capital projects and ensure they are project managed through to completion.
Procure and manage contract frameworks and external consultants where necessary in order assist in delivery of the programme. To include setting up of consultancy agreements with suppliers.
