Building or Quantity Surveyor

£37,428  - £41,173

Flexible 37 hour week

Bristol or Newcastle upon Tyne

At the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), we’re helping everyone stay safe on Britain’s roads. Our vision is for safer drivers, safer vehicles and safer journeys for all. We have some ambitious plans for the future and, to make our vision a reality, we’re currently looking for a Building or Quantity Surveyor to join us.

What you’ll do

Leading and motivating a small team, you’ll support and deliver new major capital works projects. Taking project briefs from inception to completion, you’ll manage all surveying and construction related processes. You’ll be involved with contract management, project documentation, options appraisal, cost management and project procurement. Proactively working with senior leaders, you’ll also engage with external contractors and service delivery partners, to deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes on time and to budget. You’ll work 37 hours a week, with lots of flexibility to work the hours that suit you.

Who we’re looking for

It’s essential that you have an HNC/HND in Building Surveying or Quantity Surveying or Building Studies/Construction or equivalent, along with relevant experience in a similar role. You’ll need experience dealing with clients and leading projects, too. It’s essential that you have a current valid driving licence and are able to travel to DVSA locations with the occasional overnight stay.

About DVSA

DVSA is a great place to work, where everyone’s contribution is valued and recognised. Our people are our main asset. Their commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism are critical to our success in helping everyone stay safe on Britain’s roads.

What you can expect

When you work for us, we’ll make you feel part of something special. We’re an organisation where you can make a real difference. You’ll be trusted to do a good job and can expect fair and respectful treatment. You’ll also be rewarded with 25 days annual leave (increasing up to 30), flexible working hours, a civil service pension, season ticket loans, tax-free childcare, special performance rewards and five days a year to devote to your learning and development.

The closing date for position is Sunday 17th November and final interviews will be on 4th December. To apply, please click on the Apply button at the top or bottom of this page.
