Quantity Surveyor required by a large Social Housing body to work from their offices in Ballymena
Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, Northern Ireland's largest social landlord, to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work from their office in Ballymena on an ongoing temporary contract basis.
Your new role
Working within the Asset Management team, you will ensure the effective commercial management of our client's assets, of high quality Planned Works and Compliance related investment to regions within the relevant area of operation.
This will include:
Prepare or assist in the development of specifications, drawings, bills of quantities and schedule of rates to enable the invitation of tenders and quotations;
Providing support on the correct interpretation of contract terms and conditions, ensuring that commercial risk is effectively managed;
Ensuring the affordable delivery of the investment programme, the effective management and monitoring of budgets in respect of your function including undertaking regular benchmark reviews, forecasting, cash-flow projections and monitoring;
Receiving tenders and quotations, evaluating prices, checking documents and preparing agreements and contracts;
Assisting with the regular dialogue between contractors and consultants to ensure effective progress of work. A full job description is available on request.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you should satisfy one of the following requirements:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent 3rd level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline plus at least 2 years' relevant post qualification experience, Or;
Possess a BTEC Higher or equivalent qualification in a construction related discipline plus at least 3 years' relevant post qualification experience.
Exceptionally, individuals will be considered who possess 5 years' experience working in a construction related discipline.
Relevant experience must include demonstrable knowledge of building construction, standard methods of measurement, bill of quantities software packages such as CATO and use of software packages such as Microsoft Office.

You will be paid via Hays on a weekly basis for all hours worked.
