Are you looking for an innovative and successful university in which to take your next career step? At NTU, we recognise that our greatest strengths lie in the energy, expertise, and experience that our colleagues bring.  Thanks to our £421million investment in estates and equipment across our four campuses since 2003/4, we deliver an inspirational learning environment for both staff and students.  Our research facilities allow us to shape lives and society, which is central to our mission and achievements of our aims.

NTU has received national recognition in recent years, winning the THE University of the Year, the Times and Sunday Times Modern University of the Year and Guardian University of the Year awards alongside TEF Gold Rating.

Our rise up the league tables, alongside a number of prestigious national awards, demonstrate the potential that creating and forging excellent partnerships, while harnessing the talents of all our people, can bring. Most notably we have been awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our pioneering research. We are now looking for more passionate, ambitious people to join us and help build the university of the future.

An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join a committed and enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor on a full-time basis within the School of Architecture, Design & the Built Environment. The Construction Management and Quantity Surveying Subject Area has an excellent reputation in relation to graduate employment through the delivery of strong vocational professionally accredited courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.  The post holder will be required to further enhance this reputation and to help further develop its offering.

The primary role of the Workplace Tutor is to act as the main point of contact for learners undertaking a higher education apprenticeship or work placement opportunity. You will lead on and manage a schedule of face to face contacts, visiting learners in their workplace setting to undertake progress reviews.

You will act as the main link between on-campus academic staff and employers, producing and contributing to reports relating to learner progress, assessing the quality of the workplace learning experience and maintaining records for compliance purposes. You will also play an integral role in the management of the employer/university relationship by developing and managing positive relationships with employers.

You will have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management, or a closely related discipline together with experience of working in Higher Level Apprenticeships and/or UK Higher Education sector. Previous or current industrial experience relating to one or more of the following sectors: Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management; and Construction Management. It is also desirable that you will be an Chartered member of a relevant professional body and have experience of working as a contact / link tutor/coach/mentor or in providing academic or pastoral support

In addition to the experience stated above, and within other associated documents, your ability to communicate effectively, enthuse and motivate students, and to further develop the overall student learning experience is seen as vitally important.

You will be required to visit students and apprentices at work sites nationally on a regular basis.
