Description
Are you passionate about built heritage? Do you want to put your technical skills and expertise to use in helping find solutions for historic buildings at risk? Joining our Partnerships Team in our London & South East Region, you will be applying the ethos of Constructive Conservation and implementing Historic England`s Heritage at Risk and Places Strategies.
As our new Architect/Surveyor, you will be undertaking the assessment of applications for grant-aided and Heritage at Risk projects, including examining and assessing specifications and drawings, and recommending appropriate action. Taking responsibility for the Historic England input into programmes of work at Heritage at Risk sites, supporting area-based grants, and within Heritage Action Zones and other priority places, you will also work creatively with partners to advise and recommend actions on repair, alteration and change to buildings and places.
To be successful in this role you will have an interest in the historic environment and a professional qualification in architecture or building surveying. With experience in projects aiming to repair historic buildings, you will be familiar with all periods of English secular and ecclesiastical architecture and have an excellent grasp of current conservation practice. Whilst not essential, it would be desirable to have knowledge of urban design in an historic context. With the ability to approach repair problems and possible solutions in a practical and creative way, you are also a keen team player and natural communicator.
As well as working in a supportive team environment that will enable you to further develop your career, we also offer a wide benefits package including a competitive pension scheme, a minimum of 28 days holiday, corporate discounts, and free entry to English Heritage sites.
Interviews will take place on the 10th of December at our London office.
Although this post is based in our London office, and the successful applicant should expect to attend the office on average 5 or so days per month, there will also be regular site visits within the region as well as the opportunity for working from home.
We pride ourselves in creating an inclusive working environment where your individuality will enable us to be successful. We are committed to having a recruitment experience that creates opportunity for all.
