An experienced estate manager is required to lead the management of Cambridgeshire County Council’s 33,000 acre rural estate, the largest of its kind in England and Wales, with over 200 rural businesses and a rent roll close to £5m.

The job is interesting and challenging and offers considerable autonomy and responsibility and involves leading a team of 4.

The team delivers the day to day management along side a multi disciplinary team, who together manage all of the Council’s strategic property assets. The work will include managing revenue and expenditure budgets, rent reviews, letting farms, strategic reviews, sales, environmental projects, capital investment in new farm buildings, house extensions and renewable energy, liaising with other professionals, tenants, elected Members and the public. Interesting emerging issues are the phasing out of the Basic Payment Scheme, the introduction of the Environmental Land Management Scheme, biodiversity net gain and climate change.

The ideal candidates will have a degree level education in a relevant land use discipline and will be a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. You should have several years of professional experience in the public or private sectors of the property industry, a commercial focus and good knowledge of agricultural law and rural estate management practices.

Starting salary will be in the range £49,268 - £51,869 depending on experience.

The job is based in Cambridge but will be relocating to Alconbury in 2021. The Council offers flexible working conditions.
