Join a growing team of commercial specialists, providing front line professional advice and support to the Council’s thriving Property, Investment & Facilities Management delivery teams

About us

The Council’s Property, Investment & Facilities Management teams are responsible for delivering a wide range of services to the wider Oxfordshire community through a programme of works which span major construction projects through to planned maintenance programmes and hard and soft FM contracts. The Commercial function supports the entirety of these teams by providing a range of professional cost and contract advice and support from project inception through to completion and ongoing asset management.

About the role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be joining the Commercial team at a pivotal point in its development and growth. There will be opportunities to take lead commercial responsibility on a range of live projects as well as providing advice and support at project inception through feasibility and contractor selection. Providing support on contract selection, tendering, cost management and valuation to our FM colleagues, will also form a part of the role. Working with a variety of other property professionals and supported by procurement, legal and finance colleagues, the role is truly a team centred one, in which everyone plays their part. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to be part of a dynamic and innovative delivery team, where the ethos is around providing our communities with exceptional service and outstanding buildings.

About you

You will be an ambitious individual who has made the choice to make quantity surveying their long-term career goal. You may be at the start of that process, having some experience of managing projects autonomously and be only part way along to achieving full professional accreditation, or a more experienced surveyor with considerable experience at managing projects who has gained their RICS qualification and looking to further develop their skills.

Rewards and benefits

It really is true that every single job role here contributes to bettering the lives of the people in our county - we want to do this for our employees too. We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the very best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.

We have a generous holiday allowance which rises as you remain in employment with us up to32 days, as well as giving you the option to buy additional holiday. You will also have access to a Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions of up to 19.9% of your salary; a range of local and national retail discounts; and a host of enhanced family friendly policies, including carers leave and paid time off for volunteering.
