This is a key role within the estates team of our public sector client in Birmingham.

Client Details

Our client is a public sector body in Birmingham.

Description

This Building Surveyor role will report directly into the Head of Estates and will be responsible for carrying out stock condition surveys and project managing the associated repairs and refurb work as well as ensuring that all buildings are fully compliant with UK building regulations and legislation.

You will be responsible for carrying out condition surveys and recording all of the associated data into the in house management system. At any given time there is generally a number of CAPEX projects being carried out across the estate, typically building refurbs and improvement works. You will work closely with the Head of Estates to ensure that these projects are completed accordingly on time and within budget.

As with any estate there will be reactive maintenance needs arising out of things like storm damage and vandalism and you will need to react to these in a timely manner to ensure that the building is compliant and safe to be occupied.

You will also be responsible for managing an annual maintenance budget to ensure the effective upkeep of buildings across the estate.

Profile

To be considered for this Building Surveyor position our client is looking for chartered status from a body such as CIOB, RICS or CIAT. If not yet chartered they would expect you to be working towards this status.

From an experience perspective, our client would like to see experience of carrying out stock condition surveys and project management work across a commercial estate and it would be advantageous to have experience of doing this with historic or listed buildings.

As the role requires regular site visits you must hold a full UK driving license and a company car will be provided. The majority of the travel will be around the Birmingham, Worcestershire and Herefordshire region so ideally you will live in or around this region.
