Module Markers (Online)
Remote/Home-based, casual work, payment per script
University College of Estate Management (UCEM) is long-standing and leading provider of supported online education. We exist to provide accessible, relevant and cost-effective education which enhances careers, increases professionalism and leads to a better Built Environment; we are also very passionate about sustainability. Operating from the UK and Hong Kong we have a global reach, and at any one time over 3,500 students are studying online with us.
We are looking to expand our community of Associate Tutors due to upcoming marking demands early in 2021 and beyond. In the role of Module Marker you will contribute to our high-quality provision by providing timely, effective, and helpful feedback on students’ assessments. Marking is the primary means of providing valuable feedback to students and by joining our existing community, you will be contributing to students’ understanding of the subject area, enabling them to progress through their chosen programme of study.
Alongside a module team consisting of tutors with extensive industry experience, you will be asked to mark students’ work online and will be provided with training to allow you to do this. Marking periods occur twice during a semester for a period of approximately three weeks. The next assessment periods occur in mid-February to mid-March and then again in mid-May to mid-June and mid-August to mid-September. We are welcoming applications from those who could be available during at least one or more of these marking windows for any of the following modules:
- Undergraduate level: Estimating and Tendering; Law for the Built Environment; Measurement and Quantification of Construction Work; Valuation – Context and Principles; Valuation – The Five Methods.
- Postgraduate level: Law for Surveyors; Property Transactions; Professional Cost Management.
More details about the specific subject expertise, can be found within the role description on the Jobs page of our website: www.ucem.ac.uk/jobs
For the avoidance of doubt, all marking work is offered on a casual worker employment basis only (via payroll). By expressing an interest in joining our Associate Tutor community you will go through a credentialing process and if your appointment is confirmed, we will then approach you on an ‘as and when’ basis, to see if you are available for work. There will be no obligation to accept work that is offered but when you do accept work, you will be required to fulfil your work contract. Please note, this is not permanent nor fixed-term employment.
APPLICATION DETAILS
To express your interest please send your CV, covering letter, and Recruitment Check Form to recruitment@ucem.ac.uk where your details will initially be screened for subject and marking suitability. Should we then wish to progress you through the full credentialing process, we will contact you and inform you of the next steps.
Should you have any queries please contact the HR Team initially via email to recruitment@ucem.ac.uk
CLOSING DATE
This advert will be running during late 2020 and into early 2021, with no specific closing date.
NOTE TO AGENCIES
We do not use agencies as part of our recruitment process. We politely ask that you respect this decision and do not call our offices on seeing this advertisement; if you do, the same message will be repeated to you. Thank you for your co-operation.
