Location: Civic Offices Guildhall Walk Portsmouth

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

Salary: £44,862 - £48,874 Per Annum

Closing date: 31 January 2021

At Portsmouth City Council we’re all about developing our staff, because we want to build a bigger and better city and we need the best employees to do so.

With a little over 2009,000 residents and some 7,000 businesses throughout the city, this unitary authority’s main goal is to ensure the best care and development of all those within the city. From customer service to multi-million pound projects, our residents are at the heart of everything we do.

Your New Role & What We Can Offer You

Are you a Degree/Chartered qualified & experienced Quantity Surveyor with a forward-thinking, self-motivated attitude?  An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an expanding Consultancy team based in Portsmouth; a great waterfront location on the south coast.

We can offer you a varied role, dealing with a wide range of predominantly public sector properties, projects and an expanding external client list, and assisting in new fee income generation for the service.

You will be based mainly at the Portsmouth Civic Offices (with home working by arrangement) and undertaking pre and post contract services on a wide range of construction projects in addition to managing a small team of Quantity Surveyors in providing consultancy services.

You will be a senior member of the Design management team, which is an in-house consultancy team delivering projects associated with the Portsmouth City Council asset portfolio and actively delivering and promoting its services to other public sector clients. You will use your innovative way of working to build the team, manage resources/financial targets and support the team’s professional development as well as your own.

As well as competitive pay you’ll receive all the benefits of working within a local authority organisation, which ranges from flexible working hours to a valuable pension scheme. We wish to support staff development throughout, whether that’s progression planning or involvement within the on the job apprenticeship scheme, we will work together to drive your career forward. For those with families we have child care benefits as well as staff discounts with local businesses which can be enjoyed by all.

A relocation package may be available for the right candidate.

If you feel you are the person we are looking for, we would like to hear from you.

If you have any questions, or would like an informal discussion/meeting about the role, please call Susan Whitehouse, Head of Design Services on 07824 509649 or Alan Langridge, Contracts & Commercial Manager on 07717 320515

Interview process: early February 2021
