Job summary

A well known independent property practices with offices across the South Coast, Surrey, Berkshire and into The Midlands are looking for an Associate level Building Surveyor to build, grow and lead a building surveying team for a regional office in the home counties.

Having bucked the trend in 2020, and remaining busy through adaptibility and strong commercial accumen, the business has stolen a headstart on other consultancies in the area, building relationships, securing deals and forward planning a strong work pipeline that requries a new team to manage and maintain.

Working from either the company's Reading, Crawley or Woking office, you will provide building surveying services to commercial clients within the M25 corridor.

The position of Associate Building Surveyor comes with excellent benefits. Alongside a base salary of £60-65K, the company offers a £5750 car allowance, bringing the total remuneration to a possible £70K.

You'll also be entitled to 25 days holiday plus the 8 standard UK bank holidays. At associate level, your pension is a 5% employer matched scheme.

The responsibilities

As an associate building surveyor you will lead the building surveying function for the M25 corridor from either Woking, Reading or Crawley. Reporting into the Partner Lead for Building Consultancy across the business, and working with around 20 other building surveyors from across the Southern region, you will be responsible for providing the following building surveying services:

  • Pre-acquisition surveys
  • Dilapidations
  • Technical due diligence
  • Schedules of Conditions
  • Project Management / Contract Administration

In addition to the above you will be an ambassador for the company, developing business and building relationships with clients, working in unision with colleagues from other disciplines to provide top service across all areas of commercial property.

You will also be expected to manage a senior building surveyor, with the view to bring in other surveyors for delivery of work.

The requirements

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to be:

  • A strong client facing surveyor, with a commercial mindset, to maximise business opportunities
  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Motivated to develop business and build work pipelines
  • Highly organised and able to manage your own and others' time effectively

you will need to be a fully member of the RICS for this Associate Building Surveyor role, either MRICS or FRICS, and will need to have a strong background in technical commercial building surveying.

You will also need a full and valid UK Driving license and access to a vehicle as you will be expected to travel across Surrey, Berkshire and West Sussex for this role.
