Job Details

Park Avenue are currently working with a Public Sector organisation looking to recruit an Interim Building Control Manager.

This role requires you to be able to provide a range of professional and technical skills. To discharge the Council's delegated powers and duties as required under the Building Regulations, Building Act and associated legislation. Assist in the provision of service for the diverse range of activities.

The Building Control team is made up of experienced and qualified Surveyors who work with homeowners, local builders, architects and agents to make sure that work carried out is safe, well-built and energy efficient. They have great local knowledge and provide practical advice and guidance at every step of the way.

Duties in the role

  • People management of the Building Control Team
  • Ensuring that all the requirements relating to building control are carried out in an economic, effective, efficient and equitable manner by the Building Control team.

  • To act as one of the Council's most senior building control advisor for the professional matters which are the responsibility of Building Control.

  • As the Building Control Manager, you will also be ensuring that all works controlled under the Building Regulations and associated legislation are undertaken in such a manner as to comply with substantive provisions. You must also see to it that any unauthorised work is brought into compliance and lead on to any necessary enforcement action under the Building Regulations and Building Act.

What you need

  • You need to have a minimum of 2 years Principal Building Control experience in a local authority or similar organisation processing complex building regulation applications; enforcing and remedying breaches.

  • Corporate Membership of either the RICS or the CABE is also required for this role.

Position

  • Due to Covid19, the role will initially be home based with a view to be in the office once social distancing has been lifted in line with government guidelines.
