Job Details

The company

Randstad CPE are representing a West London based Construction & Property specialist as they look to expand their team to match their increasing work flow.

An independent, partner owned business that has grown from a small group to over 100 employees in the last four decades. This company follows a simple set of values that focus on the people that make the business, and the people they work with, ensuring they understand the needs of their employees as well as their clients.

The proof is in the pudding with the average time served with the company well over the national average, and the ranks boasting equity partners who started as graduates less than 10 years ago.

The business works with a range of clients across the Greater London area, including Local Authorities, Housing Associations, Commercial Landlords, Hospitality clients and more. Due to continued demand for their services, the company is looking for a Senior Building Surveyor for their Public Sector team.

The role

As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will be a crucial member of the 20+ strong public sector team, reporting into the head of department, and managing more junior members of the team on large project instructions with one of three Local Authority clients.

You will be responsible for project managing major regeneration works to school properties from inception to completion. Being a key client liaison and overseeing client brief, feasibility studies, specification, tender management and contract administration for a variety of education works including roof replacements, refurbishments (both internal and external) and extensions to existing structures.

You will also be responsible for delegating, instructing and shadowing junior members of the team during these projects, ensuring effective management of your time, the project and your team, as well as due diligence and sign off on other consultants work.

The rewards

This position comes with a number of benefits in addition to the basic salary, which is already competitive with the market, and benchmarked between £45,000 and £50,000 base salary (before add ons) at Senior Building Surveyor level.

In addition to the basic, this company provides a car allowance of £5,000, private healthcare valued at £2,000 per annum, as well as a travel allowance of £1,000 a year.

On top of the financial benefits to the role, the company culture has always been one that is forward thinking in terms of work life balance. Pre-lockdown the business offered 1 day a week from home to all of it's employees following probation, and will look to increase that to two days once normality resumes. The company also accommodates flexible working hours to fit around a busy personal life.

The company provides 25 days of annual leave a year, plus bank and public holidays, for a total of 33 days per annum. They also provide a 4% pension contribution and life assurance, as well as subsidised gym membership.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Senior Building Surveyor you will need a relevant university degree or equivalent (PG Dip or HNC) in building surveying, building studies or similar, as well as membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

You will have a minimum of two years of post qualification experience as a Building Surveyor or above and be able to demonstrate effective leadership, client management, and technical expertise in building pathology, NEC and JCT contracts, and CDM regulations.

Prior education project experience is essential for this specific role, as certain regulations, knowledge and specifics unique to this area are required at this level, although if this is limited, you could be considered for a more junior position.

You will need to be a driver with access to a vehicle, holding a valid UK driver's licence as some sites will be more easily accessible by private transport.
