Net Zero Project Manager RBKC55631

Salary Range: £35,900 - £48,500 per annum

Work Location: Baseline Studios, Whitchurch Road, London, W11 4AT

Closing date: 7 March 2021

About Us:

Deliver a 21st century model housing estate that is carbon-neutral by 2030.

Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, a commitment was made to undertake a comprehensive refurbishment of the Lancaster West Estate, delivered sensitively and collaboratively with residents. As part of this programme, we are now in the process of refurbishing homes to a high standard, with 20% of all tenants already benefiting from our internal refurbishment programme.

As part of a council commitment to deliver carbon-neutral council housing by 2030, the scope of the refurbishment now embraces all elements that will improve the energy performance of the homes we manage.

The Role:

This is a complex, innovative and highly visible programme of national significance, part-funded by central government and the European Union. It includes the simultaneous retrofitting of some 795 properties alongside the installation of a renewable heat network.

As Net Zero Project Manager, you’ll work closely with consultants, contractors and residents to embed a range of sustainability initiatives and energy-saving measures within the refurbishment. This will include everything from windows, insulation systems and mechanical and electrical systems such as MVHR and PV panels.

You’ll need to manage contracts and overall plans to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to specification, so there’s a strong organisational and commercial element to the role.

For more information about the role, please see the full Job Description.

About You:

You’re likely to have experience of working in sustainable construction, a track record of methodical project management, and a wide-ranging knowledge of building energy performance. Although technical expertise in housing refurbishment and procurement is important, you’ll also need strong public engagement skills. Consultative, collaborative and engaging, you’ll be sensitive to the needs of a traumatised community while also ambitious to achieve a positive legacy. Outstanding communication, negotiating and influencing skills are essential.

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.

We work in partnership with Hampshire County Council (HCC) who deliver many transactional services on our behalf. Although most communications will be from HCC, all selection and appointment decisions will be made by RBKC. Certain services are shared across more than one Council area to nearby neighbouring Authorities. This enhances delivery and reduces costs. Your recruitment information will advise if your remit extends beyond RBKC.

We will primarily contact candidates by e-mail throughout the recruitment process, please monitor your email junk / spam folder as our system generated emails may be allocated to these folders by your email settings.

We engage our staff with a variety of learning types including face-to-face and virtual learning because we want to ensure our staff understand our values and behaviours, grow their skills and develop their careers.
