I am seeking a Commercial Manager from a Quantity Surveying background to run a large pharmaceutical project based in Kent.
This role has great prospects to become the Pharma / Life Sciences lead as the Partner on this sector is looking to take a backward step and possibly to retire.
In this commercial management role you will support the Client on a project valued at around £80m.
You will manage the audit of the total project budget and deal with all financial management, contracts, procurement procedures, commercial matters and more representing the client.
This will be a site based role in Kent - although my client, a firm of construction consultants / PQS has offices in central London.
Other pharma / life sciences projects will also be forthcoming and this large project will run for around 2.5 years which will be your initial project with some involvement on other projects.
My client is an established firm of construction consultants with offices in London. They work on pharmaceutical / bio-science projects in the UK and Europe and also on projects for residential and mixed used buildings.
You must have significant experience of working on pharmaceutical / life sciences projects for new build, upgrade, extensions etc.
Experience of advising on procurement procedures to achieve value for money within the context of pharma projects so good knowledge of the pros and cons of CM / MC / D&B and Lump Sum contracts and their procurement is essential.
You will be able to assess and comment and support the client in regard to contractors cost plans and allowances.
You must be able to establish and maintain overall client cost reporting.
You will need to be able to monitor, interrogate, integrate and incorporate cost reports provided by main suppliers and contractors.
You will need experience to audit the interim applications and final accounts from major contractors, engineering contractors and suppliers.
Experience to advise on contractual and commercial problems and experience of IChemE, JCT and NEC contracts is preferred.
Experience of Risk assessment with regard to all commercial matters, in particular final cost.
Be able to review, develop and maintain operational process flows.
Be able to develope tender packages for end user equipment on behalf of the Client.
Be able to ensure that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractural obligations.
Ensure that the financial aspects and impact of contracts are clear to all parties.
Be able to oversee financial KPIs.
You must have a strong education background i.e. BSc in Quantity Surveying or Commerial Management or similar, ideally be MRICS, MCIOB qualified.
Have good all round commercial awareness and be a strong negotiator.
Be able to work with a team in support of the client.
Have strong analytial skills and excellent experience in the use of Excel.
Have strong contractual knowledge and experience of drafting contractual responses on behalf of the client.
Salary will be from c. £80000 to around £95000 or slightly more for the ideal candidate plus pension and other benefits
