THE ROLE
My client is a firm of construction consultants.
They are seeking an ASSOCIATE PROJECT MANAGER or ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR PROJECT MANAGER to join them in PRESTON to both run projects and to grow the Project Management team, bring in new clients etc.
THE CLIENT
My client is a firm of construction consultants with several offices across the North West and North East of England.
They provide both project management and cost management services for a range of clients in the public and private sectors.
Projects include new build, refurbishment, extensions, fit-out etc.
THE CANDIDATE
You will need to have a BSc or BSc Hons or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Project Management, Engineering, Architecture or another construction / built environment subject.
You may also have a project management qualification i.e. PRINCE2, MSc etc.
Ideally you will be MRICS / MAPM / RIBA / CIOB or similarly qualified.
You also need to have at least six years' minimum experience working as a Project Manager post graduation in the construction industry.
You should have worked for another firm of construction consultants or multi disciplinary consultants.
Experience of working on a range of projects is required - current projects including further education colleges, schools, universities, local authority and some projects in the private sector.
Experience in the use of JCT and/or NEC contracts is essential.
You must have experience of setting up of project management processes and be able to produce formal reports and documents.
You will need to have good experience of contract administration, being able to engage with the client and construction and design teams to move the project forward to completion.
You will need to have Line Management experience and enjoy motivating and mentoring your team members.
You should be highly motivated and be keen to grow the project management service within this office.
You should have gained experience of business development, presentations, fee bids etc.
At Associate Director level you would be expected to have good contacts and be able to bring in clients.
Salary will be very negotiable from around £50000 to £70000 per annum plus pension, fees and performance related bonus.
