Job Details

The Company

A proudly independent RICS regulated firm of Chartered Building Surveyors, with almost 30 years of history providing services to property management companies across Greater London is looking for an APC level, or newly qualified Building Surveyor to join their team of experienced specialist consultants. The practice focuses on providing a fully comprehensive multi-disciplinary service to their clients from detailed surveys and reports, through design and specification to project delivery.

The role

As an APC Building Surveyor, you will be given a good amount of responsibility and autonomy within your role, trusted to work independently on instructions with support provided where required.

You will predominantly be focused on the following:

  • Property defect diagnosis largely on Victorian era residential buildings
  • Building Surveys covering all property types
  • Schedules of Work and Specification writing
  • Schedules of Condition and Dilapidation

You will report into a Senior team member, who will also act as your APC mentor, providing support in your development and reviewing your progess in relation to core competencies

The rewards

As an APC Building surveyor you will get the benefit of a boutique consultancy with a strong, established reputation, meaning a wide range of instructions and exposure to different work disciplines, unlike some larger practices that can only provide niche areas of work. Additional advantages include more focus on your support and progression as you will be one of only a few non-chartered surveyors at the business.

As an APC Building Surveyor you will receive an annual salary currently benchmarked at £30-40K, this will depend on experience and qualifications.

The business offers an excellent and achieveable bonus scheme based on annual fee targets, which could see you taking home an extra £10,000 per annum.

You will receive 20 days of annual leave + bank holidays and time off over the christmas period when the offices close.

On top of this you will be enrolled into a private pension, which you have the option to opt of, and there is a discretionary performance based bonus, paid on an annual basis.

The requirements

To be considered for the role of APC Building Surveyor at this firm, you will need to hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent level of qualification (MSc, Post Grad Diploma) in Building Surveying, and have completed your level 1 competencies in building surveying.

You will ideally have over three years of experience working as an graduate, assistant or Building Surveyor, and you must be enrolled on your APC pathway, preferably with the view of sitting within 12 months time.

A full, valid driver's license will be required for this role, and access to a vehicle for work purposes is necessary.

You will need strong attention to detail and excellent report writing skills as well as high levels of verbal and written communication. Strong Building Pathology knowledge will be important for this role, specifically surrounding Victorian residential properties.
