Building Surveyor

Estates Division is looking to recruit a Building Surveying Technician to provide support to the Building Maintenance Surveyors in all duties connected with the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings within a designated area of the Estate.

As part of a surveying team you will provide front line support to University Departments by undertaking condition surveys, defect diagnosis, specification writing and management of small projects from feasibility study to completion.

The ideal candidate will be educated to at least HND or equivalent in a relevant subject or HNC/GNVQ equivalent in a relevant subject along with previous practical experience to a high standard.

You should have excellent organisational and communication skills along with the ability to use CAD and the Microsoft suite of IT software. Good knowledge of Planning Laws and in-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, and an experience of working on listed buildings is also essential, in addition to the ability to programme a complex and diverse workload and co-ordinate contractors and other technical staff.
