The role

your new job will be for an established brand in the South East. Public Sector Construction Experts by background, this multi-disciplinary firm cover building surveying, architecture, quantity surveying, project management and M&E across the South from several offices, with their head office base in Kent.

Having experienced growth against the curve over 2020, and with more secure contracts in place for 2021 onwards, they have found themselves in the enviable position of having more work than they have staff for!

They are therefore looking for a building surveyor with the ability to deliver projects in the region of £500K - £1m in value, and carry out survey and inspection work (with some support) for key public sector clients across Kent and South East London.

As an intermediate building surveyor you will be responsible for acting as contract administrator across the traditional JCT suite on anywhere between 4-6 projects at any given time, delivering post contract mangement to final handover.

In addition to this you will be involved in traditional surveying work which includes the following:

  • Schedules of Condition & Dilapidation
  • Party Wall Matters
  • Condition reports and building surveys both for acquisition and life cycle appraisal
  • Preparing PPM programmes
  • Project Monitoring

Whilst a strong understanding of building pathology and contract administration are a must for this role, the above instructions will be introduced to you and your skills in these areas will be developed if you haven't had prior practical exposure.

The rewards

The rewards for this role come in several areas. Firstly, your salary will be competitive with the market, and your new employer will ensure you are being paid what the market dictates, providing a healthy car allowance on top as well as mileage allowance for business travel.

Additional benefits include private healthcare cover, which not only covers medical, but also dental care.

The business partners are keen to provide scope for progression and development, and see this as an opportunity to invest in your future, and are therefore proactive with CPD courses and APC support, taking a hands on approach to guiding you towards your professional qualifications.

The role will be initially office based whilst you become accustomed to systems, clients and processes, as the team feel a proper induction is crucial to your success, but by the second month at the company you will have autonomy with your working preferences, there is a sizeable office to work from if preferred, but you will be set up with a laptop and phone to enable you to work from home too.

The requirements

To be successful in this role you'll be a degree educated building surveyor with at least three years of post graduate experience, and the ability to run projects as a contract administrator.

You will need access to a vehicle and a full, valid UK driver's license in order to travel to site.

You'll be an articulate, detail oriented professional with excellent written and verbal communication and strong report writing skills.

You'll be passionate about the built environment, and motivated to improve yourself as a surveyor at each opportunity.
