Uppingham School is undertaking an ambitious infrastructure strategy to improve and renew elements of the 120 non-contiguous acre estate. With this brings exciting and career defining opportunities within our facilities and maintenance department. We now have an opening for a proven Facilities/Property Manager to ensure the estate is maintained to a high standard and to support the roll out of the new Computer Aided Facilities Management system (CAFM) Flow360.

The estate is almost one mile apart at its extremities and interspersed by town housing and retail properties. It includes 56 acres of playing fields, 14 acres of gardens, and a built estate of 80 buildings, whose combined external footprint is 775,000 sq. ft, and of which 23 are listed (Grades I – II). Buildings include teaching blocks, assembly buildings, boarding houses, staff housing, administrative and technical accommodation, and sports facilities. A programme of new buildings followed full co-education in 2001, including a dual-use Sports Centre and a RIBA national-award winning Science Centre completed in 2014.

As the Planned Preventative Maintenance Manager, you will manage the service delivery from the in-house maintenance team and external contractors, specifically ensuring:

  • Building services are statutory compliant (in consultation with the Estates Compliance Manager)
  • Robust Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules and life cycle plans are in place
  • Health & Safety and risk management practices are effectively embedded in the work of the maintenance function.

You will also lead on the development, implementation and management of Flow360 (the new CAFM system) ensuring full user and stakeholder engagement, training, monitoring, and reporting.

The successful candidate will hold full membership of a recognised professional body, e.g. RICS, CIOB etc. and will have experience of undertaking condition surveys and formulating life cycle and long term maintenance plans. Your experience is likely to have been gained in a facilities or property management role in a large, multi-site organisation, with multiple stakeholders. If you have relevant experience, health and safety knowledge and excellent organisation and people skills, we would like to hear from you.

In return Uppingham offers a community that values people. We are warm, compassionate and mutually supportive. This is reflected in our working environment and the benefits we are able to offer:

  • 50% contribution to premiums for the School’s private health scheme
  • Free membership of dual-use Sports Centre (£25 annual joining fee for full-time members of staff)
  • Free staff lunches in term-time
  • Staff fee concessions
  • Defined contribution pension scheme
  • Sodexo benefits platform
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
