Senior Building Surveyor – (Expert Witness)

1 year to Director. 2 years to Equity.

Based Leeds, West Yorkshire

Are you a Senior Building Surveyor looking for progression to Equity Partner and more involvement in building the business?

We are a small, but very fast growing and profitable specialist provider of expert witness property surveys and reports to a panel of law firms. We are offering a genuine opportunity to two experienced MRICS Building surveyors to work on our increased work load and assist with the management of our expansion.

N.B. We are also looking for two lesser experienced building surveyors and one senior residential surveyor to join the team. Please contact us for more details.

Company

We are a small, profitable and fast growing team that has been fortunate enough to carve out a niche provision of property surveying and reporting (Part 35) for an expanding panel of law firms. We are also working to expand on these services and provide our expertise to a non-legal client base, including both local authorities and residential homeowners.

We are a family business offering a friendly work environment that is team focussed and committed to growth. We have a spacious office on the outskirts of Leeds allowing for a safe and easily socially distanced work environment and we are also happy to offer flexible home working.

We were recently awarded a large contract that has doubled our workload and will run for at least the next three years. We also have other contracts at late stages we are confident of securing (from our own panel), so further growth is envisaged.

We need to strengthen our team with two senior, very experienced MRICS Building Surveyors that can deal with the extra workload and assist with general and expansion management. A directorship and equity participation will be the ultimate benefit of success for both surveyors.

Requirement of the Chartered Building Surveyor

  • Chartered Building Surveyor – MRICS
  • BSc in Building Surveying an advantage (but experience will also count)
  • Commercially aware
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Detailed knowledge of cavity wall construction or,
  • Experience of cavity wall and dilapidations surveys
  • A demonstrable history of general residential property building surveying
  • Ability to run and mentor a team
  • Excellent communication/client liaison skills
  • Enthusiastic and driven individual with desire to progress towards business management

Initially you will conduct surveys across Yorkshire predominantly, with occasional travel to the wider Northern area. Surveys include: cavity wall insulation inspections (focused on damp caused by the failure of the insulation), dilapidations (local authority tenant and landlord), condition and acquisition. You will also ‘desk top’ sign off Part 35 reports generated by the team and eventually in some cases present those reports in Court as part of our provision of expert witness services to our panel of law firms. ( generally 18 to 24 months later).

You will also form part of a wider business development initiative designed to introduce other types of work and, you will be required to work with less experienced team members supporting their professional development.
